Robert Sommerfeld
Robert S. Sommerfeld, a Senior Associate Consultant of RLR, has over 20 years of experience in management, banking and loan servicing. His knowledge includes commercial and retail loan support, mergers and acquisitions, as well as project management support and consultation. He has extensive knowledge and experience with implementation of processes, and compliance in support of Mortgage Reform, Truth in Lending, UDAAP, CFPB, Customer Complaint Processing, and Reg Z.
His experience includes:
- Enterprise Compliance Committee Member and versed in bank Compliance/Regulation as well as process and procedure writing for Commercial, Consumer, and Mortgage Loan servicing requirements.
- Managed day to day functions for all loan customer service, payment posting, and maintenance related to Commercial, Consumer, Small Business, and Mortgage (GNMA, Fannie, Freddie, etc.) loans for the enterprise, as well as SWAP, Participations-LIBOR and International Banking booking and maintenance.
- Managed loan acquisitions / merger specialist providing custom designed project management support and deliverables.
- Departmental workflow efficiencies specialist providing consultation and recommendation on process improvement, workflow designs as well as FTE management services.
- Oversaw the creation of systems, coordination, and interaction with the appropriate groups to ensure effective, efficient processes and procedures.
- Directing Commercial, Retail/Small Business and Mortgage loan servicing for five states with average loan portfolio over 55,000 units and net of $16 billion in loan volume.
- Oversaw the management of bank acquisitions for all loan servicing activity.
- Oversaw implementation of automated loan servicing systems / interfaces for FTE and customer service efficiencies.
- Designed and oversaw the implementation of automated imaged loan documents from origination to retention as well as file retention policies for all loan documents.
- Project Management
- Created the Project Management department for the Loan Support Services department to lead projects on bank conversions, code creation, process improvement, and rate related updates.
- Knowledge of Special Assets, Loss Share, and Loss Mitigation practices / procedures.
Robert holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Development / Industrial Technical Training from Indiana State University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Minor in Music Performance from Linfield College, McMinnville, OR.
